Infant Baptisms – Two sessions are run for parents bringing babies or young children for baptism which explain what it means to believe and belong as a Christian, looking carefully at the promises to be made in the Baptism service.
Adult Baptisms or Re-affirmation of Baptism – Increasingly, it has become popular for people to be baptised as a follower of Jesus in adulthood. Some for the first time, others re-affirming their baptism that they had as an infant. The baptism itself is done by full immersion either in the church or a local swimming pool.
Confirmation – Any teenagers or adults who wish to make a public commitment to Christ, whether or not they were baptised as a child, or have recently come to faith, or have been exploring Christianity through Alpha. If you wish to make a public declaration of faith or if you wish to mark it publicly within the church family, then confirmation could be for you.
Confirmation preparation – Confirmation candidates meet together for a preparation course of three sessions leading up to the Confirmation service, usually in the spring or summer. During the preparation course, candidates look together at the basics of Christian discipleship and playing an active part in the life of the Church.
Confirmation Service – In the Confirmation Service led by the Bishop, candidates have the opportunity to make a public ‘confirmation’ of their faith in Jesus Christ, and also receive God’s ‘confirmation’ of his Spirit in them through the laying on of the Bishop’s hands.
